The falling-block puzzle from 1984. Turn and slide the pieces as they fall, fill a row from wall to wall to clear it, and keep the stack from reaching the top.
How to play
- ← →
- Slide the piece. Hold to keep sliding.
- ↑ X
- Turn clockwise. Z turns the other way.
- ↓
- Soft drop: fall faster, 1 point per row.
- Space
- Hard drop (modern rules): slam it down, 2 points per row.
- C Shift
- Hold the piece for later (modern rules).
- P Esc
- Pause. M turns the music on or off.
On a phone, use the buttons under the board, or tap the board to turn the piece.
Scoring
- Single (1 line)
- 40 × (level + 1)
- Double (2 lines)
- 100 × (level + 1)
- Triple (3 lines)
- 300 × (level + 1)
- Four lines at once
- 1200 × (level + 1)
Every 10 lines you go up a level and the pieces fall faster, just like the 1989 console version. Starting on a higher level scores more from the first line, but the first level-up waits until you've cleared enough lines to reach it. When the stack gets high, the music speeds up.
Classic or modern?
Classic plays like the 1989 console original: one next piece, no hard drop, no hold, no ghost, no wall kicks, and a piece locks the moment it lands.
Modern adds what later versions brought in: a shadow showing where the piece will land, hard drop, hold, three next pieces, wall kicks, a short pause before a landed piece locks, and a "bag" that deals all seven pieces before repeating any.
